"Ald-ruhn, Abandoned Hut" V2.0 (2003-06-20) by Sir Craven
*********************************************************

Wow, another House plug-in, *YAWN*...
=====================================

Don't judge that fast. This plugin adds an abandoned hut in the north-west
area of Ald'Ruhn (yes, that's not Balmora) completely in Redoran-style
architecture. The hut itself is located directly north of the council club
and rather small and not very glamorous, that's why the Ald'Ruhn citizens
aren't interested in it. But nobody knows what the hut's previous owners
did with the basement. Will you find out?

Great, so there's just another house suddenly standing around...
================================================================

Not quite true, it's not like it's just standing around and you're the first
to stumble upon it. There's only the tiny problem of a rat infestation.
And the door is locked. So the Ald'Ruhn people don't bother with it. They
don't need the hut. You, on the other hand, may find it very useful. When
you're able to get in, you should carefully look around; the previous
inhabtitants may have left some clues about their where-abouts...

Updated Version
===============

This is the second version of my plugin. I've changed a few things in order
to make the hut more useful and better looking. See below for details.

****************
** IMPORTANT: **
****************

If you're using the previous version of the plugin and want to upgrade to V2,
you'll need to do it a certain way or problems will arise:

1. Gather *all* your items from the hut, basement, mannequins etc.
   Make sure you've *really* got them all!
   If you can't carry that much, use the console to temporarily enhance
   your strength and write down the original value before you do that.

   ^ opens the console, then type:

   player->setstrength 5000 and press return

2. With all your items in your backpack, leave the hut and go into any
   other interior cell, like the council club or the Ald Skaar Inn.

3. Save your game under a new name

4. Exit MW and uncheck the box next to V1, then load your saved game again.
   Ignore all the error messages.

5. Save again under a new name (just to be on the safe side) and exit MW.

6. In the MW Launcher check the box next to the V2 version and load your
   savegame again. If everything went fine, you should now be able to move
   in into an upgraded living place.

7. Set your strength to the old value before you forget it. ;)

Features:
=========

- nice layout, Redoran-style architecture

- NO unbalancing items aka "uber" weapons etc. (...but there are a few
  items left by the previous owners...)

- useable practice dummy to train your skills (if you wish)

- fully furnished

- useful to all character classes

- 56 Armor Mannequins	(for armor and shields)
  (in 2 separate rooms to enhance FPS)

- 14 Display Cases	(for relatively small magical trinkets)

- 6 Display Stands	(for your larger items like bows and swords)

- several storage rooms with large chests

- Teleport ring to return to the hut whenever you want
  (requires some magicka)

- WARNING: *lots* of objects and colored lights! May cause your frame-rate
  to drop down to "Balmora exterior" levels!

- Should be 'clean'. I inspected it with TESAME and didn't find changes
  to anything except the things I wanted to add/change

- everything taken from other plug-ins (objects, scripts, etc.) has
  been renamed so there should be no conflict with any other mod (my
  versions start with either '_OQ' or 'OQ')

- for screenshots, visit either sircraven.dyndns.org (may not be on 24/7,
  in fact, I haven't even installed a web server right now)
  or http://home.t-online.de/~sir_craven/

Ah, well, I'll take a look at it
================================

Now, that's the spirit. Just remember: if you don't like it, you don't
have to use it. :)

Just extract all files from the *.zip to your Morrowind\Data Files dir,
but make sure to restore the folder structure!

If you're asked to over-write some files (most likely textures, I
didn't rename them, would require editing of the *.nif files I guess),
better click "no". It should work anyway.

A detailed list of all files you should have in order for this plug-in
to work:

- Ald-ruhn, Abandoned Hut V2.esp
- Ald-ruhn, Abandoned Hut V2 README.txt (this file)

- Icons\OQ_mannequin.tga

- Meshes\OQ_B_N_Wooden_Ankle.nif

- Textures\TX_B_N_Wooden_UL.BMP
- Textures\TX_B_N_Woodenc_M_G00.BMP

Sum: 31 files

In the Morowind Launcher, click on "Data Files" and the double-click the
square left to this plug-ins name ("Ald-Ruhn, Abandoned Flat"). After you
have done this you can start MW and load a savegame to check the new hut
out.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you don't use another plug-in that modifies the same
place as mine does! (Borderline between cells Ald-ruhn, -2, 6 and Ald-ruhn,
-2, 7 - my hut is located at the coordinates of

x = -15476.770
y =  57591.125
z =   2694.771

Should you encounter any bugs or would like me to tell how great (or not)
(and why) this plug-in is, e-mail me: Sir_Craven@gmx.net

Have fun,

Credits and some more info than you probably want to know
=========================================================

I created this plug-in to acommodate the needs of my Redoran Enchanter
(custom class) who's a collector of all kinds of items: weapons, armor,
whatever.

I tried several plug-ins made by other people but always found something
I didn't like about them. However, some of them had a bunch of cool things
that I really liked so I ripped them apart (not literally, mind you) and
decided to create my own house.

It took me about a week from start to finish to create my own plug-in
(including to learn how the editor works).

So I'd like to thank the following people for their great work and the
inspiration they gave me (in no particular order):

- VKIG_LR aka A.Alexiou for 'ANASTASIO THE GREAT'S HIDEOUT'
  (Actually, a huge part of the following list is copy'n'paste from his
   readme file, the sources he listed were REALLY helpful)

- Dragonsong for his excellent tutorials.
  Check out his tuts: www.weathersong.net/tomorrow/tuts/

- Chirs Janosi [mr. phantastik] for creating the coolest thing Morrowind
  needed....mannequins!

- Lady Eternity for her display case mesh and Rastill for tweaking it.

- ghost and his abandoned flat mod. I just replicated what he did regarding
  the active dummy with some minor changes.

- Erik Benerdal aka Scarabus for creating a must needed program
  called TESAME http://www.fudge.dot.nu/

- Harmeister (Dean Harmon) for his "Stronghold Rings" plugin that
  allowed me to get the teleport script working

- Bethesda for creating such a great game

The following websites for everything they have to offer:

- www.elderscrolls.com

- www.morrowindfiles.com

- www.morrowindmods.de

- http://m0use.net/~uesp/

- home.austin.rr.com/shakti/morrowind/

This plug-in was created using TES CS Version 1.5.1629 with the Morrowind.esm
master file (v1.30); Tribunal and Bloodmoon were installed, but both *.esm not
used.

You may distribute this plugin freely as long as you don't take money for it
and keep this readme included.

I don't work for (LOL, nice idea) nor am I affiliated with Bethesda in any way.
So don't contact them if something doesn't work with my plug-in, contact *me*.

X Okay, I warned you.

Where exactly is that stupid hut? I can't find it.
==================================================

Go to the city of Ald'Ruhn (I won't tell you how to get *there* ;)).
From the Silt Strider port, walk down the ramp and turn left. Go north
until you see the hut to your right, it's located directly north of the
council club and the Ald Skar Inn.

It's locked?!
=============

Yes. Pick the lock or cast a spell to get in. There's no key to open
this door.

I killed some rats. I don't like rats. Will they respawn?
=========================================================

No, they are pre-placed and will not respawn. You can safely click on
the "Dispose of Corpse" button.

The hut's rather small. Where are the armor mannequins and all?
===============================================================

The hut has a basement. Go down there.

Uh, where is that trap door? I can see it on the map, but not in game?
======================================================================

It's behind the tapestry. In the cellar. South. Open your eyes. ;-)

Woah, a Level 100 lock! And trapped with deadly poison, too! Are you insane?!
=============================================================================

No, *I* am not. You should ask the former owners, LOL. Perhaps they left some
items they didn't want every peasant to steal? You have three ways of getting
in:

1. Find the key to the trap door.
2. Open the lock with lockpicks or spells and disable the trap with a probe.
3. Just like #2 but trigger the trap and immediately use a potion or
   spell to cure the poison.

I'm not good enough to get that thing open, I need that key! But WTF is it?
===========================================================================

Sigh. Look around. Perhaps you'd like to take a little nap after all that
exhausting searching?

I'm in the "basement". It's fricking huge! Out-of-character! What were you thinking?
====================================================================================

Breathe. Relax. Walk down the stairs and read the book on the table. Oh, and if
you haven't done so already: go back up into the hut and read the "scribbled note"
on the desk, too.

Nice story. Where can I find Listro and the others?
===================================================

You can't. They've left. And, psst, I'll tell you a secret: they won't return to
Ald'ruhn. They left for good and are building another hide-out somewhere else. But I
won't tell you where. I promised them, sorry. :-)

Is there a way to get all the items back that were stolen from them?
====================================================================

No, sorry. But the thieves were in a hurry and dropped one or two things, if
I'm not mistaken...

Where's that teleport ring?
===========================

There'S a hint in Listro's journal.

I can't find that damn ring! Where is it?
=========================================

Search Syloria's room.

I have another question that isn't answered here....
====================================================

Well, go ahead and ask me: Sir_Craven@gmx.net

Now, go and have fun. :)
